Don was the founder of Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home, Inc. and he brought over sixty years of experience and knowledge to the funeral home as a licensed New York State Funeral Director.
As a native and life resident of Syracuse, Don committed himself to funeral service and to serving the Central New York community. A graduate of both Christian Brothers Academy and Simmons School of Embalming, Don had been a licensed funeral director since the age of 21. Don purchased the former Murphy Funeral Home in 1961 and Keegan & Osbelt Funeral Home in 1978 combining both operations into the current Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home, Inc. Over the past half century, Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home Inc. has provided superior service to the people of Central New York in their time of need as an independently-owned and operated family funeral home.
Don was also a proud veteran of the United States Army and he was married to the former, Sheila M. Adsit for 54 years. They were the proud parents of four children and have seven grandchildren.
Don passed away peacefully on March 25, 2019 at home with his family by his side. He will be forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, tenacity and sense of humor. He was honored to serve this community for over sixty years and he his legacy will live on in his children and grandchildren. The funeral home continues to serve our community in order to honor his memory and to serve our client families. His life's work will go on and his high standards of care and concern will continue.
Sheila M. Knight passed away on December 22, 2022 at home after a long illness. I am grateful to all of those who assisted my mother and I am thankful that she rejoins her husband Donald in heaven for Christmas.
