About Us

It is with much grief and sadness that I announce the death of my father and business partner.  Don died peacefully on March 25, 2019 at his home after a brief illness.  The complete obituary may be found in the Obituary section of our website. Thank you to everyone who has supported and comforted our entire family during this time of grief.  We are so grateful and thankful to everyone that has taken the time to call, visit, attend services or just say a prayer for us.  Please know that we are humbled and honored to know that Don has made such an impact on so many lives.

Don was the founder of Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home, Inc. and he brought over sixty years of experience and knowledge to the funeral home as a licensed New York State Funeral Director.

As a native and life resident of Syracuse, Don committed himself to funeral service and to serving the Central New York community. A graduate of both Christian Brothers Academy and Simmons School of Embalming, Don had been a licensed funeral director since the age of 21. Don purchased the former Murphy Funeral Home in 1961 and Keegan & Osbelt Funeral Home in 1978 combining both operations into the current Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home, Inc.  Over the past half century, Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home Inc. has provided superior service to the people of Central New York in their time of need as an independently-owned and operated family funeral home.

Don was also a proud veteran of the United States Army and he was married to the former, Sheila M. Adsit for 54 years. They are the proud parents of four children and have seven grandchildren.

Patty is the daughter of Donald and Sheila Knight and she has been a licensed New York State funeral director for the past twenty-eight years.

Patty is a native of Syracuse, graduate of Bishop Grimes High School and received a BA in Political Science from Nazareth College of Rochester, a diploma in Funeral Service Studies from Simmons Institute of Funeral Service and a Certificate from the Legal Assistant Program at University College at Syracuse University.

Patty believes that one must become involved in their chosen field in order to make a difference in that field.   Patty is a former president of both the Onondaga-Oswego Funeral Directors Association and the New York State Funeral Directors Association and has previously served on a number of community boards including Hope for Bereaved, the Junior League of Syracuse and the Central New York Funeral Directors Association.  Patty currently serves as a Trustee for Assumption Church,  a member of Saint Marianne Cope Advisory Board and is an active member of the New York State Funeral Directors Association Government Affairs committee.

Patty is married to David F. Scholl, a local Assistant Middle School Principal and Athletic Director, and they are the proud parents of their twelve year old son, Tim.
